Nathan Binnema
Nathan Binnema is a Treaty Six settler on Amiskwacîwâskahikan, also known as Edmonton. A lifelong resident of the city, he has been exploring nature connection in this area since childhood, mostly informally. He founded Edmonton Phenological Engagement in 2019, a group which aims to reclaim this lost art as a personal practice and as a collective mode of knowledge generation and orientation.
Nathan’s educational background is in math, and works as an independent math tutor. Nathan serves as treasurer on the board of the Institute.

Christopher Peet
Christopher Peet is a son of Dutch immigrants. Chris came to Treaty Six territory and settled in Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) as a young adult to attend the University of Alberta. Chris studied World Religions for his BA and then studied Theoretical & Historical Psychology for his PhD. He currently works as a Professor of Psychology at The King’s University, exploring the intersection of spirituality, world history, and ecology. Chris published his first book Practicing Transcendence in 2019 followed by his first podcast Afterthought in 2020. In 2021 he established the Institute for Contemplative Ecology. Chris serves as chair of the Board of I4C.

Josh Key
Josh Key is a Treaty Six settler and amateur naturalist with a particular passion for science communication and nature connection. Josh began his study of the natural world in his childhood by learning how to identify edible plants and collect insects. Josh has continued his education as a student at the UofA and a member of the Alberta Mycological Society. He spends his summers refining relationship with the natural world and running field trips and educational programs for kids. Josh serves as a member-at-large on the board.
