Mushroom Forays

Identify wild mushrooms!

We host mushroom forays both independently and partnered with the Alberta Mycological Society that introduce beginners to the fungal world and provide exciting foraging opportunities to seasoned forest veterans.

Guided Forest Tours

We run forest tours at New Jubilee Forest, in partnership with landowner Doug Visser, and the Edmonton and Area Land Trust, caretakers of the conservation easement.  Located on a private farm in the Horsehills district of Edmonton, New Jubilee Forest is a remnant of old growth forest that survived the gravel mining era.  The tours introduce folks to the forest in an intentional way, and seek to educate folks about the value of such living places through lightly guided experiential contact, knowledge sharing, storytelling, and more.  Experiences will vary according to the tour guide.

Retreats

We host a variety of different retreats throughout the year under the broad theme of "ecospirituality".

Accommodations at the CHANGE Centre are shared dorm-style beds, or tent/RV camping on the grounds. Restore yourself and be enlivened by forest, field, creek, river,  dark night skies and an abundance of wildlife!

Since time immemorial, Indigenous Peoples have lived on the lands of present-day central Alberta, the territories today of Treaty 6 and 7 as well as the Métis Homeland. The Institute for Contemplative Ecology respects the histories, languages and cultures of the diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples of Canada; acknowledges their living here and wisdom embodied in their traditions and ceremonies practiced for centuries before the coming of colonialism and settlers; and are inspired by their achievement of living in a sacred ecology over countless generations.
